Twilight to Son Shine by Jim McDonald
Jim McDonald - “The Houseboat Poet” - has been a Southern Maryland resident since 1965, growing up on a tobacco farm he hated, under an alcoholic father he swore he would never imitate. At the age of twenty-four, his wife left him and their two sons and she never looked back. Four DWIs, four possession arrests, and three ex-wives finally showed him that he was his father. The one true steady influence in his life was his mother, who helped him and her grandsons through it all. Jail time in 1989 convinced him he had to stop the bleeding and a visiting minister showed him that with Jesus leading he could begin anew.
Twilight to Son Shine, the first of the Thoughts into Poetry series, invites you to see life at the waterline by taking an intimate journey with Jim from hope to despair, into and out of depression, and back to hope again. Reader Quotes: |
