Mary Barrows - is a very talented freelance artist from the small town of Walkersville, MD. I'm a children's book illustrator working primarily in ink, watercolor and pencil. People always ask me how long I've been drawing for and I never know how to respond. I have no clear memory of when I first picked up a pencil and set it down on the paper to draw my first drawing, much like you don't remember taking your first breath. I've just always been doing it. Growing up, I was always in competition with my other brother to be the better artist. This drove me to improve my skill as often as I could at a young age. Most children, as soon as they're old enough to hold a crayon will attempt to draw a picture with it. This was the same for me, except, unlike most people, I never stopped. I've always been drawing, but it wasn't until a few years ago that I got into illustration. Spurred on by the encouragement of some good friends, and a gentle nudge from God to leave my old job, I began illustration full time in the fall of 2014 and haven't looked back. Since then I've been blessed to be able to work with some incredible authors with some pretty awesome books in need of illustrations.. She can be reached through: marybarrows.wordpress.com
What Our Clients Are Saying
"Jim, the books we purchased are quite worn now. Our boys really like them. They were impressed that we "actually" knew you. I will gladly review your new book....is it okay if I read it to the boys? Again, thanks for writing the books. Our older boys have ADHD and learning disabilities and your books kept their attention."
