A Box of Stuff by Ed Patterson McNamara
A Box of Stuff: This genealogy and history of the Patterson family of Colonial Pennsylvania presents an accurate historical picture of the family lines that resulted in Ed Patterson. In this work, twelve generations of the Shippen, Burd, and Patterson families and their historical impacts to Pennsylvania are examined. The lines begins with the Shippen family, who mingled with the Burd family, who in turn were joined by the Pattersons. His family and their accomplishments date back to the 1600’s and are interwoven with and integral to the colonial history of Pennsylvania. Most of his descendants had characters and abilities that directly impacted Pennsylvania history and significantly affected the growth and development of the state. Family members are honored by historical road markers, monuments and an over abundance of manuscripts contained in the Pennsylvania Archives. On top of that, Ed's family was joined by a cast of supporting characters, not in his bloodline but distant uncles, aunts and cousins, who nonetheless also made a contributions to colonial history and to Pennsylvania.
